Artist.Curator. Art Consultant.

Welcome! I'm Lauren Siry, an artist, curator, and consultant based in London, England, and San Diego, California. I have a Master's degree in Contemporary Art from Sotheby's Institute of Art London and a Bachelor's in Fine Arts from Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston.

As the founding director of 1805 Gallery in San Diego, I curated exhibitions, residencies, and lectures that featured both local and international artists. I consult with organizations to create art programs that encourage community engagement and strengthen brand identity.

I have worked on the curatorial team at Lux Art Institute and created custom art programs for Porto Vista Hotel, HG Fenton Company, and Simon Property Group. My curatorial projects have been featured in several publications, including Arts and Culture, KPBS, Pacific Magazine, Voice of San Diego, and Alpha Kilo Creative.

In addition to my curatorial work, I have served as a judge for exhibitions at the San Diego International Airport, and taught workshops at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego and the Athenaeum Music and Arts Library.

I am excited to share my knowledge and art practice with you.

Lauren

The human form has always been the central focus of my art practice. I am fascinated by the connections that human beings establish with each other and how these connections go beyond the physical boundaries of the body. We are more permeable than we realize.

The body is limitless in its physical and emotional expressions. It silently communicates as we interact with others and the world around us. I strive to capture an unrestrained authentic energy that emphasizes trust in the body's intuitive movements finding familiar shapes: bodily forms colliding, expanding, and merging.

To gain a deeper understanding of the complexities of relationships and identity, I draw inspiration from concepts in neuroscience, physics, and sociology. My work is about our experience within our bodies and the interactions with others that shape our sense of self. I see an intricate web of relationships that mold our identities. Rather than existing as isolated individuals, we leave a trace of ourselves with everyone we encounter. Perhaps if we recognized others as an integral part of our own selves, we could live in greater harmony.
